Results from today's matches. The Italian clubs all did well except for Chievo but I guess that is not that much of a surprise since they have been struggling of late.
Hearts are a big dissapointment for the clan losing at home. They have now dropped 3 straight UEFA games and are even on a skid in the SPL losing to St Mirren at home their last game.

well Chievo had a pretty disappointing start in both competitions serie a and CL, to my eyes Livorno lack of european nights experience, Palermo are quite a decent side but i'd say Parma to go the furthest
if i were in elmickio's shoes wouldn't be disappointed, afterall goalless home draw is decent result since anything can happen in Paris - now that's a worthy away game to follow |

| i am suprised by Livorno but i believe totally in the Islanders (Palermo). Parma also won and i am very happy but they tend to give up the fight too soon. but i honestly wish them well. Forza Lega-Calcio Italia!!! |

Sorry for the late feedback, I was in london with the missus, Derry's result was absolutely magical! A team of partimers held the mighty PSG, to a draw in the brandywell! We hit the crossbar in the first half and had a penalty appeal turned down! It was a definate penalty, as I seen the replay ! I think also we cleared the ball of the line.
To my knowledge Dhoroso was not playing (like that would have made a difference) he he
Who knows what instore for Derry now in the parc de prince, but who cares the team has done the whole city proud!

I had read an article on how the people and the city pulled together and saved the team.
Very inspiring in this day and age of big salaries and ego's. Thanks for the link. |

interesting reading indeed, it's a true pity that only 3000 souls can get in, is there any chance to hosting your UEFA cup opponents in a more capable ground?
and, out of curiosity, where does the Candy Stripes nick originate? |

Would that not be the red and white stripes of the strip like a hard candy? Hence the Candy Stripes.
I don't think its in reference to the American porn classic the "Candy Stripers". |

Schalke 2-3 Nancy 1-0 & 1-3 2nd leg This has to be a huge disappointment for Schalke since only last year they were in CL. This quite a drop for them to be eliminated.
Start 2-9 Ajax 2-5 & 0-4 2nd leg You get the feeling Ajax is in the wrong part of the competition and should actually be in CL
Braga (aet) 3-2 Chievo 2-0 & 1-2 2nd leg Chievo salvage some pride with the victory at home but too little too late and they are gone.
Rubin 0-2 Parma 0-1 & 0-1 2nd leg Parma keeps Italian hopes alive with Palermo and should prove interesting in the group stage depending on the draws.

Derry 0-2 PSG 0-0 & 0-2 2nd leg Derry made everyone respect them for their tenacity and their fans. An excellent showing for the candy stripers.
