Well TORONTO FC finally did it!
After 386 minutes of frustration Dichio (from England) finally scored the team's first goal in history!!!!
The stadium errupted into pure delirium and pandemonium!
The silly buggers in management had convieniently provided all 20000+ fans with a lovely circular soccer looking seat cushion with very aerodynamic properties.
They may want to rethink that one in the future as it took over 5 minutes just to clear all the cushions on the field to restart the game.
In the end Toronto won 3-1 and the stadium was quite estatic.
Some of the Chicago players interviewed post game were quite impressed with the fans and acknowledged there was a 12th man factor today.
for better coverage and feedback including video go to the MLS website. http://web.mlsnet.com/t280/index_no_ad.jsp |

2 in a row!!!
A great 1-0 win against the defending champs of the MLS on a rain soaked night.
At this rate they will be 4-4 by the end of May and be in the middle of the pack in the MLS. |

| Well enjoy Tal, it seems you are destined for joyful moments; your Toronto doing well, and Milan will do well in Athens to give you a wonderful summer. |

They finally pick up some away points with a 2-2 draw at Columbus.
Problem was the 3 points were there for the taking.
Toronto had just earlier in the week picked up Jeff Cunningham the number 2 all time scorer in the MLS off of Real Salt Lake.
I know the MLS has wierd ideas on transfers, they actaully trade for players like other North American Sports up until a trade deadline later in the season.
Anyway he had 4 clearcut scoring chances but could not finish.
When he plays somemore with the team hopefully that changes and soon.
On another note TFC had played Benfica in a friendly on last Wednesday (CL final on 23rd you may remember where you were quite well)
They got over 18000 out for the game despite the cheapest seat being $100.
They will also play Aston Villa at the end of July in another friendly. |

TFC win again and exit the basement of the eastern standings.
2-1 win that should have been a 4-1 win but we got the 3 points.
20200 fantics continue to hurl abuse at visiting teams and refs and support for the team.
The players stayed on the pitch and extra 3 minutes to thank the fans.
Kansas City continues to lead the Western conference. (too bad they cannot get more than 9000 into the seats...)
Not sure if Beckham want to even play in LA as they are haveing a terrible season.
New England continues to dominate the East and heads the stronger of the 2 divisions of the MLS.
What is facinating is to watch the fan clubs develop and the introduction of new chants every game.
As the season progresses the fanaticism spreads further and further around the stadium like a creeping tide from the south end. Major raod trip planned to Chicago for the 7th of July.
Got to see if I need to go on business for the weekend.... |

TFC win their largest game to date.
With their fan's chanting "This is OUR HOUSE!!"
TFC dominated the best team in the MLS with a convincing 4-0 win with balanced attack throughout the game.
Dallas clearly did not know what to make of the thunderous crowd and after the first 15 minutes failed to make an impression. Frustration grew further as 4 players were booked with yellow cards for arguing calls and Dallas woried more about the ref than their own play.
Toronto on the other hand continued to grow in confidence and success. 4 different players scored and if not for some better timing on the counterattack could have added 2 or 3 more as they clearly dominated the second half. Cunningham a recent addition from Real Salt lake continues to be a threat with his impressive pace and attacking skills. |

Beckham has landed in LA. At his presentation they only managed to muster 5000 fans.....
Not quite sure how this will all end up but I thought it revealing about half the shots I saw were of Posh not David. |

Well Beck's played his first game in LA in a freindly with Chelsea.
Final Chelsea 1- LA 0
The media focused only on Becks and I doubt anyone really watched the game or cared of the outcome.
The good news for th league is he had 27000 paying customers in the stands and half of Hollywood showed up.
Who ever would have thought they would live to see Eva Longoria at a football game in LA!??!
His attendance draw should continue in the balance of appearences this season.
In other notes Toronto FC has been awarded the MLS allstar game for 2008 due to their continued sold out capacity crowds at home games.
For those not familiar with NAmerican sporting traditions in all prfessional sports here we halt the season at the midway point to have an allstar game of the best players from the East and West conferences. (due to vast distances the east plays more games against eastern teams and the same goes for western teams)
The players who are selected by a combination of sports writers (supposedly they know the sports they report on) and the fans themselves.
For the players it is a nice break and is ment to highlight individual skills rather than a real competition.
The MLS pots a spin on this by selecting the bestplayers in both conferences but then they play against a top European team.
The most recent version was a game against Glasgow Celtic which the MLS won 2-0 on the strength of Juan Pablo Angel's goal to get things going.
Houston Dynamo has also broken the MLS record for most minutes without allowing a goal.
They did so most recently against Toronto FC in a 0-0 draw at home. They currently have gone 10+ games without allowing a goal. |

| They want to support football in USA, but for mee thats impossible, they have another mentality: how u can support the football if the people only looks for how good looking and famous is the footballer??? they just don't care about the match! |

That may be true to a certain extent.
LA seems to be more interested in Posh Spice than her famous husband.
There is no getting away from his numbers. (he has sold over 250000 shirts since his presentation just recently)
That has a huge financial impact to the whole league. Not to mention how he will increase attendence all over the league for the remainder of the season.
On average about 3-5000 seats per game.
While their is a buzz surrounding the guy there is no getting away from the positive numbers he is having on the sport in Norrth America.
If it gets better there it will be like the land of milk and honey for footballers. Give it another 20 -30 years and then see where some european leagues are trying to compete for quality players. |
