I would like to get feedback on a campaign that we are planning for the Milan game. We the Celtic Supporters are planning to unvail a banner requesting Justice for the 96 Liverpool fans killed in 1989 at Hillsborough. This banner is a show of solidarity between football fans who wish to see justice done for our fellow supporters, due to the circumstances surrounding Italian football the past week I would like to find out from the Milan supporters if they would have any issues with us unvailing this banner and if they would like to join in with the campaign on the night with the singing of Walk On. Not only would this be unique but would show the world that true football fans care about each other and events that have an effect on our culture. Please see link to the following site run by Liverpool fans who are relatives of the victims. http://www.contrast.org/hillsborough
Also could I encourage genuine Milan supporters who attend games to voice their opinion on this thread via email to my email address parkhead@hotmail.com
We would also like to invite Milan fans for a beer on the night of the game in Glasgow. |

| hello there DennisBhoy, as far as i'm aware there's no such a close friendship between your lot and the reds, so to speak, incidentally i personally know quite a few nutters from both sides you see, on the other hand showing solidarity between football fans regardless of their beliefs is positive attitude no questioning - aye necking a few pints is what football is all about, should be good fun thanks for your invitation, are you off to Milan next month |

Whatever? obita do you even realise what dennisBhoy is talking about? Maybe you should go and do some research before you comment. Dennisbhoy I would love to meet up with you pal, but unfortuatly im going to Madrid this weekend for my girlfriends brothers stag party. it should be an intersesting encounter. Myself being from the nationalist area in the north Ireland where everyone here is a fan of the hoops, I will hopefully be given the stick out in the pub that night hoping that Milan win, if not i'll be in for a hell of a night.
Cheers any way Pal. |

| El, this is all i can say, i don't really care that much about research (i'm no longer a student - joke!!) or Liverpool, the thing is Maybe i am not a true Milan supporter!!???!! you can decide for me. What solidarity are we talking about here? it will end up being a politicized this. i mean what is all the fuss abotu the unity bit? and what justice? justice is the opinion of the one who has more power!!! what else? like Milan being penalised for fixing games do you think that is justice? or juve fans getting killed in Belgium in 1985 and Liverpool fans in 1989 and the one of 1989 seeking 'justice'? man football is a game of emotions and if lack of emotions make you a better Milan supporter or genuine football lover then i am not one. precisely because i am not that selfish but i prefer to belong and safeguard my belonging without diluting it. bottom line if Celtics fans want to show solidarity for Liverpool fans let them do it but i don't see how it is a business of AC Milan supporters. Milan are going to Celtic Park to play and win a game and that's it. well ignore my comment if it's bullshit! also because you are apparently British it fits for you!!! |

Hypocritcal..thanks that's a new one. may be let me take a clearer stand and say the follwoings: -
1. I failed to see the connection between the Milan-Celtics encounter and the Liverpool deaths in Hillsborough. As you seem to know and have a good will for go ahead.
2. Liverpool is a club with a history of violence. their supporters are known for notoriety and i don't think a club whose fans are as clean as those of Milan should even think of showing solidarity with them. not that i'm not moved by such a guesture, but how is it our business? again i say if it affects you just be part of it (the goodwill group).
3. In the summer we were unjustly penalized in a so-called match-fixing scandal yet we know Milan were innocent. Who showed us solidarity. Most French and English clubs showed how they wanted Milan out of all competitions in Europe and todate they still call us cheats. so are we guilty and want people to accept us by doing something noble? remember the Leeds fans who was petitioning a Cup Winners Cup game of the sixtie claiming Milan are cheat so should be investigated. i mean a solidarity is worthy with a team lik Barcelona who have always shown respect for other teas including Milan.
4. The death of the Italian policeman 5 fridays ago was unfortunate and as far as i can remember (i am very ignorant and limited with information) it was a national disaster and the concerned authorities are handling it. even FIFA are handling violence appropriately. so instead i would advise you guys to compile a list of the many disaster that have occured accross Europe and carry the banners remembering them all. i find the Liverpool thing very selfish as you think i am. i hope i have not shown too much ignorance this time round. Good luck in ur endeavours, especially the one of hillsborough. |

ALL of us are entitiled our opinions on this forum but should not be criticized or attacked on a personal level.
There is truth in what Obita says, likewise what happened in Hillsborough was a tragedy and I don't wish on anyone.
Issues like this get further compounded when one realizes how preventable and utterly futile they are as events in history.
Regardless of our opinions lets all respect each others views. |
