Surprises abound in the EPL.
Bolton can't buy a win. Somehow Derby Co beats Newcastle! The top of the table continues to resemble a saner start than previous weeks.
Man City continues to hang in and a surprising West Ham powered by Craig Bellamy continues to rise after barely avoiding relagation last season.

Of my pre-season predictions, it is only Ericksson's Man City that is living to the billing. Matrin Jol and Alledyce are jokers. Worst for Bolton and Reading because they are in unfamiliar zones

Liverpool keeps drawing as Arsenal gets into real business.
Could it be that Derby were not ready for top flight yet when they gain promotion.
I was pleased that Jose Mourinho got fixed because he was BAD for football. His attitude was always not sportsmanly. He thought he was a God. Our Ancelotti has won a domestic league title, 2 Champions' leagues, Two European Super Cups and a Coppa Italia but he remains modest. Mourinho lacked modesty and humility which are very integral in football. I hope he has learnt some lessons.

Who would have thought that with the departure of Tierry Henry Arsenal would be at the top of the EPL standings after 9 weeks and with a game in hand.
Man U will be the main contenders having rediscovered their scoring touch and still fighting off a rash of injuries.
Liverpool's defence as mentioned earlier is a sieve and will continue to be so but can they score....
Chelsea, what can I say... It could not happen to a nicer Russian Billionaire.... Where will they be in 2 years? Back at the bottom where they belong.
Also don't believe for a minute that Kaka will ever leave Milan for Chelsea for 150 Million Euros. Not when the coach does not even have his UEFA Pro license...
Man city while impressing early this year will have to deal with injuries and reality as the season wears on and fade into the middle of the pack.

The big question is Bolton as bad as they have played and can they get out of relegation? Derby Co is going back where they belong at the end of the season but who else is joining them? Some contenters would have to be Fulham, Sunderland and a struggling Middlesborough Also I don't have much faith that Bellamy will stave off relegation for West Ham 2 years in a row. Time will tell.

Erickson's men are the only ones I'm proud of because I predicted they would not just walk the distance but run along with the leaders and indeed they are in touch with the top!!!
Arsenal's kids will have to stand the heat all season long before making masses wrong predictors. Man United meanwhile woke up before they were damaged by very awful season opening form and they are comfortable behind Wenger's kids

Well here are the EPL fixtures for day 10.
Arsenal has a great chance to pick up some distance on Man U if Aston Villa plays a decent game at home.
Chelsea and Liverpool matches will be indicative of where these teams will end up at the end of the year.
They both dearly need wins.
Portsmouth stand to gain ground on the leaders pack depending on what damage control Wigan have put in place since last weeks 4-0 thrashing by Man U. The Monday game might prove to be a foretaste of the future for the Hammers if they cannot win at home.

Saturday, October 20
Everton vs Liverpool Goodison Park

Sunday, October 21
Arsenal vs Bolton Emirates Stadium
Middlesbrough vs Chelsea Riverside Stadium
Fulham vs Derby Craven Cottage
Man City vs Birmingham City of Manchester Stadium
Wigan vs Portsmouth The JJB Stadium
Blackburn vs Reading Ewood Park
Aston Villa vs Man United Villa Park

Monday, October 22
West Ham vs Sunderland Upton Park

Tuesday, October 23
Newcastle vs Tottenham St James Park

Any stakes in the Merseyside derby this time round? I would count Arsenal contendos for the crown if they can brush their annually hardest opponents - Bolton. Psychologically Martin O'neal always get the better of Sir Alex so let's wait and see what unfolds at Villa Park. Man City play Birmingham and may just get closer to the tops as the Southerners have been pretenders as well as participants this season. Boro-Chelsea reminds me of a 3-0 drubbing a Portuguese coach failed to swallow last season

After smashing Villa to the gallows, Man United does it again on Boro and surely Carlitos and Rooney are forming a very deadly partnership.

Well it is mid december and Arsenal are handling the pressure very well.
Still atop the standings with Man U lurking trying to play catch up.
The question will be who gets 3rd and 4th?? Chelsea has lost a few key games and Liverpool who knows (Benitez is such a jerk)
Man city is hanging in tough but Portsmouth and others are all in the game still.

The one thing I have to give the EPL more than any of the other great European leagues is all the team are so competitive.
There is no such thing as a given win. All is earned in the EPL...

After the 22 round Man U has finally reeled in Arsenal.

Man U thumped Sunderland (without manager Roy Keane) 6-0 at home.
CRonaldo had 3 but that says little in a league where marking is weak at best of times.
Tevez got anoter 2 with Rio Ferdinand justifing his reputation with an insurance goal.

Chealsea won 2-0 just to try and stay in touch.
An Liverpool dropped another 2 points only managing a 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough.
This pretty much percludes them from winning the PL and puts them tied at 39 points with the likes of Everton/Aston Villa/Man city.
If they keep this up they may not even qualify for CL next season.....

I personally like Aston Villa's chances to make 4th stick for the rest of the season.
But Liverpool still has 1 game in hand so time will tell.
