Here is a thought; At one time Italian Serie A was the place for all young players worldwide to aspire to. Over the years Italian premenince has been eroded by the likes of the EPL and the Spanish La Liga.
Obviously there are various reasons.

Give your thoughts on what the problem is and some of the possible options and solutions that La Lega Calcio needs to do to get Football in Italy back where it belongs.
Attendence has declined 9 straight years and TORONTO Canada now fields more home sell outs and average attendence (20000+ game) than over 50% of all Serie A clubs. To say the situation is dire would be to equate rape as a mild social behavioural dysfunction...

Here is a link to some thoughts from the UEFA website: http://www.uefa.com/magazine/news/kind= ... 62631.html

Tal, nice one if you ask me but I wouldn't pic any of the above options. What would be the football problem with a country that won the World Cup last summer and has the Champions' League crown, prodcued the FIFA and European Footballer of the Year last season and will most probaly do the same this season?
Another option would have been, English and Spanish press making more noise than the Italian one? I would say yes. It is true there are problems Italian football but not that the English and Spanish league are scott free. They too hae problems. The major differences are the economies and tax policies which are favourable in Espaņa and Engand. But in terms of quality, Calcio Italiano still has it all that is why Kaka still resists Real Madrid, Pato still signs for Milan, Quaresma comes to inter and Chivu remains in Italy to mention a few. Italia remains a great footballing nation.

I read that article on the UEFA magazine by Paolo Menicucci & Roberta Radaelli and I really hope they do exist and wrote the piece in good faith otherwise I am tempted to say they wrote it out of frustration or malice because what ever they quoted doesn't rank top for any reasoning scale. Talking of departures of Grosso, Luca Toni, Lucarelli and Bianchi who are they compared to the guys left back in Italy. Let's compare: Grosso to Maldini or Mancini (di Roma), Luca Toni to SuperPippo or Ibrahimovic, Lucarelli to Totti, Bianchi to Gilardino or Quadreguilla. For every departed player, there are 10 more better who remained in Italy.
Numbers at the Stadiums: I spoke to many Italians about this and some answers were quite honest - Sky televises the games and you can pick them from your sitting room so it is better to whatch the 'smaller' games from home and go to th Stadium on big days. Others talked of violence but it doesn't mean the following has dropped.
One horse race: In Italy it rarely happens last season excluded. But someone tell me when Man United stretched away from Chelsea and viceversa one and two seasons earlier? Let's look t both ends of the sword as well

I added the extra option for the survey buddy.

With regards to better television coverage it should not kill the home stadium atmosphere.
Further in smaller markets in North America they do not brodcast locally unless there are so many seats already sold or a complete sellout.
That stops people from viewing shots of half empty stadiums from their living rooms.....

So may be Sky should stop telecasting Serie A games in Italy. Otherwise I see the numbers dwindling year in year out except for the big games.
And oh, thanks for the last option because I take that instantly.....hey, no heavyweight issues buddy

I think it's because that in England and Spain, there's more money invested, more freedom on teams managements, and so owners can spend more money without worrying about taxes

For me the problem is the "football mafia" (Moratti nš1), the tax, the money resources (TV in particular and the stadium not privates also) and whats happening the las summer of course..
